THE LONE OAK EXPERIENCE
Where Riders Build a Connection
At Lone Oak, learning to ride is also learning to understand the horse beneath you. Jalaina teaches riders to care for their horses, communicate with them, and become confident, capable partners.
Her goal is simple: every lesson should be safe, fun, and purposeful, with both horse and rider enjoying the time together and learning something new.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Every Lesson Is Hands-On
1. MEET YOUR HORSE
Jalaina prepares the horse for the lesson, while experienced riders may learn to catch their own horse from the paddock.
2. GROOM & TACK
Students groom and tack up their horse, learning how to safely prepare for a ride. Jalaina assists younger or newer riders as needed.
3. LEARN & RIDE
Most of the lesson takes place in the arena, where riders develop balance, skills, confidence, and communication with their horse. More experienced riders may begin with groundwork or lunging before getting in the saddle.
4. FINISH THE RIDE
After riding, students return to the tie posts, untack their horse, and help finish the lesson.
Each lesson is designed to build confidence, responsibility, and a stronger connection between horse and rider.

LIFE ON THE HILL
Ride With a View
Perched on a hilltop in Pilot Hill, Lone Oak offers more than a place to ride. On clear days, views extend down to Folsom with Mt. Diablo rising above the horizon. Winter and spring bring colorful blooms, while tule fog kisses the base of the arena. The sunsets are something special.
CHARTER SCHOOL RIDING LESSONS
Hands-On Learning With Horses
Lone Oak partners with select charter schools to give students a hands-on educational experience built around horses, riding, and responsibility.
Students learn throughout the entire experience: grooming and preparing their horse, riding, practicing safety and communication, and caring for the horse afterward.
Charter school students use educational vouchers obtained through their school.

MEET JALAINA
The Heart Behind Lone Oak
Jalaina has always loved horses, but she didn’t take the traditional path into riding. After choosing equine science for college, she began her career as a barn manager and eventually found her calling as an instructor.
Today, she brings more than a decade of teaching experience and an Associate degree in Equine Science to every lesson. She believes riding should be safe, fun, disciplined, and rewarding for both horse and rider.
Starting with their first lesson, Jalaina’s goal is to help every rider become more confident, capable, and connected to their horse.
